Pamlico County School district participates in the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs. Children may be eligible for free meals or meals at a reduced price depending upon their parents' or guardians' level of income. Meal applications are distributed with the student packets each year and are available throughout the year from the Child Nutrition Office. A meal application must be completed each year in order to determine eligibility. Applications should be completed on the current school year form and returned to the school cafeteria or to the Child Nutrition Department. Only one application per family is required with all students and household members listed as well as total gross household. Each foster child is considered to be a household of one and should be listed on a separate application. The Child Nutrition staff performs audits for compliance.
The reduced price is 40 cents for lunch and 30 cents for breakfast. Once approved for meal benefits, your child will be entitled to (1) breakfast and (1) lunch each school day at the benefit rate.
Children do not become eligible for free or reduced priced meals until the meal application is processed and approved by the Child Nutrition Department. Meal benefits are not retroactive
