NEW MEDIA CENTER CIRCULATION SYSTEM

Our school has just installed a new library system called DESTINY Library Manager.  The purpose of this move was to integrate and centralize our circulation, cataloging, searching, and reporting functions into one flexible library management system - and help to support and strengthen a truly collaborative learning community.   .  Destiny Library Manager will help you transform your libraries into knowledge centers that drive information literacy, strengthen the library-to-classroom connection and expand their scope beyond "normal" operating hours.  Student and parents will be able to search for information from anywhere, at any time 24/7, from any computer with Internet service, by using this URL: https://pamlico.follettdestiny.com/.      Your child has been trained on this system and has been given a username and password. 

The purpose behind this is to 1.) Give students a familiar technology and visual interface to encourage successful library use.  2.)  Provide 24/7 access to the multi-language OPAC.  3.)  Choose options for older students and fluent readers or graphic-based visual search screens for emerging readers, struggling readers, and ESL students.  4.)  Provide easy access to reading program titles that match students' reading levels.  5.)  Direct students to safe, relevant k-12 web sites containing educator-reviewed, age-appropriate information.  6.)  Catalog school-specific subject headings to simplify students' searches.  We hope you will enjoy using this and if you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Kim Prescott at 745-4062.
