Our 2nd grade students were the stars on November 7th, 2008 where they shared what they have learned about presidents during the Presidential PTO program.  The evening began with the book, So You Want To Be President?, shown through a projector 30 minutes before the program began.  Then six of our students led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.  All of the students were wearing red, white or blue and glittery Uncle Sam hats, which they made during art class with Mrs. Misty Lupton.

During the program, a PowerPoint was shared which required parents to try and figure out which presidents the students were describing.  Student voices were embedded in each PowerPoint slide and after five clues were read, the entire class would exclaim, "Who Am I."  Then the president's name would be read and a real life student version of the president would walk out.   We also shared pictures of students on Election day voting to see who would be president of the United States. The 2nd graders did an excellent job singing two patriotic songs, Yankee Doodle and My Country Tis of Thee led by our Music teacher, Mr. Cliff Higgins.  At the end of the program, we welcomed the student version of President-elect Barack Obama. This was truly a collaborative effort.  Thank you to all who helped to make this night a great success.
