Mr. Philipp Jones from WNCT-9 visited Pamlico County Primary School September 18th, 2008 to see how classrooms in the Pamlico County School District have changed this year.  Click here to see the video (allow a couple of minutes for the video to load).

In 2006-2007, Pamlico County School District was awarded the Impacting Leadership Grant.  With this grant came almost one million dollars in Impact money some of which funded placing a Promethean Activ-Classroom in every classroom in the district (140 classrooms).  A Promethean Activ-Classroom consists of a projector, Promethean Board (an interactive whiteboard), an Activ-slate (hand held slate that can control the Activ-Board as well as allow writing on the board) and Acti-votes (remote controls that students can use to answer questions).  During Mr. Jones' visit, we also demonstrated the Wii, Wii Fit and Wii Outdoor Challenge.  Several of our students enjoyed demonstrating the equipment.  Our P.E. teacher, Mr. Twichell as well as other classroom teachers have been using the Wii in their classrooms to increase fitness, motivation and coordination. For more information about this grant, please click here.
