GOOD NEWS AT THE MARCH BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING

     PRESENTED by:  Mr. George Robinson, Board Chair and Ms. Lisa Jackson, Director of School/Community Relations

         Two PCHS HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) students were recognized for winning at the regional level-Xiao Fu Liu and Amber Barnett.

         Two PCHS Art students were recognized for placing in the Scholastics Art Awards at Barton College-Savannah Ellenburg (gold key recipient) and Brandy Baxter (silver key recipient).

         Several former PCHS students at NCSU made the Dean's List and were mentioned: August Noevere, Lucas Dunbar, Jordan Woodard, Clay Spencer, and Kari Jane Hardison.

The top spellers in the Spelling Bee at FAA and PCMS were recognized.  FAA-Jarod Cahoon, Shianne Bland, Austin Karakatsiotis;  PCMS-Brittany Cahoon and Ashley Kinsey

Certificates from the North Carolina School Board Association for School Boardmanship were handed out to members of the Pamlico County Board of Education.  

Board members were recognized as a part of School Board Recognition Month (January 2009) by Dr. James P. Coon, Superintendent.
