2008-2009 Pamlico County Teachers of the Year!

Pamlico County Schools is proud to announce the 2008-2009 Teachers of the Year!

Pamlico County Primary School is proud to have Elizabeth Philipps as its Teacher of the Year.  Mrs. Philipps is a second grade teacher.  She has 4 years of teaching experience that includes one year at Pamlico County Middle School.  Originally from Tennessee, Mrs. Philipps and her husband, Jason, live  in New Bern along with their golden retriever.  They attend church at First Baptist Church in New Bern.  Her fellow teachers describe her as "very organized and a great leader and teacher.  She motivates her students and has high expectations for them."

 

Fred A. Anderson Elementary School has chosen Roger Stewart as its Teacher of the Year.  Mr. Stewart is a PE teacher.  He has been teaching Physical Education for twenty years.  Currently, he works with third through fifth graders. Mr. Stewart lives in the Merritt area and attends Bethel Free Will Baptist Church.  Mr. Stewart says that he enjoys seeing the excitement from the children when they come to the gym for his class each day.  He likes knowing that not only is he helping them physically but also mentally and socially.

 

Pamlico County High School's Teacher of the Year is Robert Wolbert.  Mr. Wolbert teaches US and World History.  He has been teaching for twelve years.  He lives in the Winterville with his wife and children.  Mr. Wolbert says that his greatest contribution to education is helping to produce solid young citizens by motivating each student to be as prosperous as they can be. 

 

Pamlico County Middle School and PAMLICO COUNTY'S TEACHER OF THE YEAR!

Joanna Holton is Pamlico County Middle School's Teacher of the Year.  Mrs. Holton is an eighth grade Math/Science teacher and has been teaching for seven years. She recently participated in the "Growing Future Leaders" Program with the Southeast Education Alliance.  She and her family live in Pamlico County and attend Broad Creek Christian Church.   Administrators say that she "is an exceptional teacher and is a "role model" for students.  She is firm and has a caring demeanor."  Her co-workers say "she is always eager to share knowledge with other students and teachers.  Her classroom is one that is filled with positive attitudes and a family atmosphere."  Mrs. Holton will compete for the Southeast Regional Teacher of the Year next month.
